This easy crochet hat can be worked in 6 different sizes (from 17.5” to  to 25.25”)!

This design is worked in continuous rounds of single crochet stitches, creating a seamless design that’s gorgeous from any angle.

The brim is also added in continuous rounds of slip stitches and double crochet, in simple repeats!

It’s a great pattern because:

  • Hats are quick and easy projects to work up – especially with super bulky yarn!
  • Chunky  hats are great projects for winter and cooler months!
  • This project is perfect for lots of different head sizes (17.5” – 25.25”), whether you’re male or female (it’s not gender specific).
  • You’ll get to practice a lot of crochet skills: continuous rounds, stitch tension, gauge & size, post stitches, slip stitches, finishing techniques & more!

Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick, Super Bulky #6 yarn (80% acrylic, 20% Superwash Wool; 106 yds/97 m per 6 oz/170 g skein): 

HOOK & OTHER MATERIALS 

  • US Size N/15 (10.0mm) crochet hook. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain gauge.
  • 1 Stitch marker.

GAUGE

  • 9.5 Sc Sts = 5”
  • 8 pattern rows = 4”

SPECIALTY STITCHES & TECHNIQUES

  • BLO = Back Loop Only
  • FPHDc (Front Post Half Double Crochet): Yarn over, insert hook around stitch post (from front to back, around front), yarn over, pull back around stitch post, yarn over, pull through 3 loops on hook.

NOTES

  • Pattern is worked in 2 consecutive parts: Hat, Brim
  • Use a stitch marker to mark the top of the first stitch in each round.
  • For the best fit, measure around head at forehead, follow hood size with closest length. 
  • Hat can be fitted or oversized, as desired.

Round 2: Work 2 Sc into each St around – 12 Sc

Round 4: [Work 2 Sc into 1 St, Sc into next 2 Sts] 6 times – 24 Sc
