How to make a Jade Crochet Sun Hat

Yarn

Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton, worsted weight #4 yarn (186 yds / 170 m; 3.5 oz / 100 g per skein): 1 (1, 1, 2) skeins of #178 Jade

To find other natural fibers, or other brand that carry cotton yarn, I suggest looking on yarnsub.com and comparing the yarn used to write this pattern.

While you can easily substitute yarn for this project, I really enjoyed working with Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton to give this style the perfect weight and brim.

24/7 Cotton is a sturdy yarn with a nice weight to it, so the fabric it creates is perfect for this brim style.

If you choose to substitute yarn, think about the fabric you’re creating and be careful not to create fabric that is too stiff (unless you’re totally into that kind of style, of course)!

You can read more about how to substitute yarn, including my best tips to choose yarn alternatives, right here: Understanding Yarn Substitution – An Easy Reference For Crocheters

If you would like to substitute yarn for this Crochet Sun Hat, here are some yarns I recommend for this project:

  • 15.25 Dc Sts = 4”

  • 24” x 10”
