Size and Finished Measurements

  • 9.5” tall (rows, without handles)
  • 7.75” wide (stitches)

This crochet stitch pattern is worked with the following basic crochet stitches.

You can see these stitches in action as you watch these video tutorials (just click on the underlined text):

Specialty Stitches and Techniques

  • BLO =  Back Loops Only

Repeat Symbols

This crochet pattern uses multiple stitch repeat symbols in the stitch pattern.

These crochet pattern symbols are necessary to help shorten the length of the instructions into their simplest form.

Understanding what each of these symbols means will help you to understand how to read and follow their direction.

Right and Wong Sides

Even though this pattern is worked in joined rounds, you’ll turn after each round is joined to alternate the right and wrong sides in the fabric.

Turning after each round will create a reversible fabric throughout the tote, until the handles are formed.

If you want to learn more about crochet fabric, here are some tips: Right and Wrong Sides in Crochet: What does this mean?

Pattern Notes

  • Tote is worked in one piece, from the bottom up, in joined rounds.
  • After each round is joined, turn; this will keep the joined seam straight, and the fabric to alternate right and wrong sides, keeping the fabric reversible.
  • Use a stitch marker to mark the top of first St in each round, especially to help with joining.
  • To replicate color changes shown in example, work as follows:
    • Color A = Rounds 1-9, 14-16.
    • Color B = Rounds 10-13.
