My Crochet Story

I started my crochet journey when I was around 10 or 12 (1992).

My grandmother attempted to teach me how to crochet but she was not exactly the most patient or clear in her explanations and tutorials.

I learned how to chain and make sure that the chains were consistent and even.

A few summers later, some missionary ladies came to my school and held a crochet class for anyone interested in learning.

They taught me how to turn a chain into more with single crochet.

After graduating high school and entering the military and getting married, then divorced, then remarried, I started searching for ways to grow in my crochet around 2005.

I learned a lot from crochet books and YouTube videos – I learned a lot but still didn’t have a lot of formal training and now I have come to realize that most of the training I did complete was faulty and full of errors.

Enter the American Crochet Association (ACA) and the Craft Yarn Council (CYC).

Why I Joined ACA

I wanted to grow in my crochet knowledge and skills and be able to correctly and effectively teach crochet to the next generation.
